You’re Invited to Attend the Future Film Coalition Town Hall
On February 27, 2025, the Future Film Coalition will hold a brief presentation followed by facilitated discussion

Why are we holding a Town Hall?
Two weeks ago during Sundance, we made a pit stop at the Sundance Institute Future Models event, “Building a Collective Future for Independent Film and Media.” Future Film Coalition members Barbara Twist and Sanjay Sharma participated as panelists, with Barbara presenting our work, specifically. Many of you came up to chat with us after this event and in many other spaces of the festival, to offer your enthusiasm and support. We heard that you’re concerned about systemic issues that affect filmmakers and the rest of the field, including distributors, exhibitors, promoters, and other film workers. You’re eager for research and coalition-building. We’re eager to start the work.
We’re inviting all sectors of independent and arthouse film to join our first digital Town Hall, on February 27, 2025, 3:00–4:30 p.m. ET/12:00–1:30 p.m. PT.
About the Town Hall
As stakeholders in independent film, we all know that the delicate ecosystem of filmmakers, distributors, exhibitors, investors, public media, and nonprofits that historically developed independent fare and delivered it to audiences is buckling under the weight of an increasingly consolidated media landscape. In this first-of-its-kind Town Hall, the Future Film Coalition will introduce our mission and membership structure. This brief presentation will be followed by facilitated discussion, in the spirit of a town hall, for us all to discuss the priorities that each branch of the Future Film Coalition could address through research, policy monitoring, and government advocacy at local and federal levels in the U.S. We will explain how you can join our efforts to secure the future of art-house and independent media, moving beyond mere conversation into action.
